My paintings explore the richness of the natural world—trees, stormy skies, mosses, rocks—through layers of colour, texture, and atmosphere. I'm drawn to the lushness of forests and the drama of shifting skies, translating these experiences into oil on canvas or birch panel. My style has shifted over time from strict realism to a looser, more impressionistic approach that prioritizes mood and presence over detail. Some works grow out of my lifelong connection to Glengarry, and life on the farm - others from discoveries I make while traveling. All are attempts to translate the elements of the landscapes that move me.

When I travel, I take hundreds of photos. I try to capture the essence/vibe/feeling - whatever you want to call it. Once I'm back in my studio, I select a handfulI of the best, that I may want to translate into a painting one day. Often, the paintings only happen years later - when the time is right.
